The computer science honours program is a 120-hour program in the Faculty of Science designed for students who want to study computer science in greater depth than our computer science major degree.
In 1982, The honours degrees in computer science at the University of Manitoba became the first honours program in Canada to be given professional accreditation by the Canadian Information Processing Society.
Students who would like to enter the honour program need to have completed 24 credit hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students also must have obtained a grade of B in COMP 1020, and are strongly encouraged to have obtained a grade of C in both MATH 1300 and MATH 1500.
To continue in the honours degree program, students need a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must complete a minimum of 9 credit hours during each Fall and Winter term.
Further requirements of the computer science honours degree are listed on our requirements page.
Computer science honours students are eligible to enrol in the co-op program and complete any of our specialization areas.
